Thursdays are SO fun! I started off the day teachi

Thursdays are SO fun! I started off the day teaching Listen & Learn for Little Ones! This class is for our youngest music makers! We went “Under the Sea” today, singing songs about ocean animals and playing shakers, castanets, lollipop drums! 🐠🦀🐬 I had some music therapy sessions and lessons throughout the rest of my day. The TinkerTar pictured (slide 2) is a super cool instrument - it’s a one string guitar! The TinkerTar is great for working on fine motor skills, strenghtening fingers, and introducing guitar! I also taught some voice & piano lessons. We sang lots of musical theater today as students prepare for upcoming auditions and performances! 🎵 #musictherapist #musicteacher #dayinthelife

Today was a music-filled Monday! It started off with 3 school music therapy sessions! We had fun singing about summer, the warm weather, and outdoor activities. We also got to do some instrument play with one of my favorites - rhythm sticks! The afternoon consisted of lots of lessons, including voice, piano, & guitar. Wednesday has been an action packed day! This morn

Wednesday has been an action packed day! This morning, I facilitated a music therapy group with adults. We played a TV show music bingo game with theme songs from TV shows they enjoy, discussed the Fourth of July, did a relaxation activity, and sang along to client-preferred songs. In the afternoon, I saw two elementary aged groups at a summer camp. We played instruments, sang songs, danced, did a super silly Mad-Libs style rewrite of ‘Old Town Road,’ talked about what music therapy is, and had a blast! The rest of my afternoon will be spent teaching lessons. I hope everyone has a safe Fourth of July! -Molly #dayinthelife #musictherapy #musictherapist

Tuesday has been a day FULL of music! I started my day off with some groups at Lincoln Prairie Behavioral Health facility playing music bingo to target goals such as sustained attention, impulse control, academic skills, and attention to task. I then went to Concordia Village where I facilitated several individual music therapy visits using client-preferred music to work on social goals, memory recall skills, and improving quality of life. Finally, I’m back at MTC to round out my day teaching lessons and seeing a private client.
