Video Introduction

Movement props are an essential part of our music therapy toolbox.

We love them because they are incredibly versatile: most of our props can be used with a variety of populations, from our early childhood classes, to individual music therapy sessions, to our older adult groups.

In these settings, we use movement props to address a multitude of goals and objectives — in many cases, within one single song. We’ve written a collection of songs specifically for use with movement props, and in this course, we’re sharing them with you.

Not only that, but we’re showing you exactly how we implement these songs and use movement props in practice through footage from our classes and sessions.

The tools and techniques provided in this course will give you a solid foundation for incorporating movement props (and our adaptable song collection!) in your own practice.

Course Contents

Start with the Course Guidebook, which contains the lyrics and chords for all 10 songs introduced in the course, along with facilitation guides outlining applications and adaptations for each song.

Once you’ve downloaded or printed the guidebook for quick reference, watch our introduction video, in which we give an overview of the course — including why we created it, more about what’s inside, and how to use the materials we provide.

There are 5 movement props featured in this course. We’ve created videos to help you become more familiar with each prop, including why we like it, how we use it, and ideas for adaptations.

There are 2 songs for each prop, all of which feature a lyrics video, a demonstration of the song in use with a class or student, and our applications and adaptations for it.
